Computer Problems
I am on a borrowed computer at the moment, trying to switch mine on this morning presented me with a blank screen and no signal prompt? I performed the usual checks and noticed that a small red hard drive light was remaining lit. After seven days away and lots to catch up on I knew that there was no time to sit playing around with it so I swiftly unplugged the cables and set off to my local supplier (who also offer a very good repair service).

A phone call just moments ago gave me a larger bill than I would have liked but a smaller problem, the motherboard was dead along with the power supply. A new one supplied and fitted for £168.00 has been offered, had it been the hard drive then £69.00 for a new one would have been an easier bill to swallow but would I really want the head ache of installing everything?

I have also been informed that I can either have my old hard drive backed up for £50.00 or they will put a new one in and use my old one as a slave drive leaving the data in place.. Arghh I thought you could just pop my old hard drive onto the new board but no, it needs XP installing again and tons of other jargon...

The go ahead has been given for a new motherboard and hard drive, I shall keep my old as a slave drive and take the information from it as required, they might have it done today for me, I have my fingers crossed, holidays, who needs them!!

Switch to Mac, baby. We don't get those problems nearly as often.

Ha! Do you know how much Mac charge you if you want to move data from an old hard drive to a new one? Around £150.

And Macs take a while to get repaired. Stick with your PC! :)
