Funeral Strippers
Chinese authorities have banned strippers from performing at funerals. The move follows the arrest of five people in Donghai county who performed a special send-off for a local farmer.

Striptease acts have been common at funerals in Donghai’s rural areas, as a way of boosting the number of mourners and bringing honour and luck to the deceased. Over two hundred people were believed to have attended the latest ceremony, which took place last week. Striptease troupes, like the one in Donghai, are hired by the families. They have been known to bathe in public, perform nude with snakes and even remove the trousers from male mourners and get them to join in the dancing.

Funeral strippers can earn around 200 yuan (£13) a show, a great deal of money in rural China. However Donghai county has hit back by offering a 300 yuan (£20) reward for callers reporting obscene performances at funerals to a special hotline.
